There are many ways to pay for college and they typically break down into the following three categories.

  • Loans: private or public, the must be repaid
  • Grants: government aid that doesn't need to be repaid and is usually limited to specific requirements
  • Scholarships: require an application, but doesn't need to be repaid

One of the first steps in applying for funding is completing the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Prior to completing the application you (and your parent or guardian) need to apply for a PIN. Please refer to the below websites.

SAT & ACT
What are they?
The SAT and ACT are the two primary college admissions examinations.
Why are these important?
Most colleges requires either for applying as a freshman and many
scholarships also require them. They are used as an indicator of potential
college success.
When should I be taking an SAT or ACT?
Many students take one or both tests during their “junior” year of high
school, leaving ample time to retest in the event the student is trying to
get a better score.
How do I sign up?
The websites below tell you everything you want to know - information to
help prepare for testing, transition tools to assist with college searches,
scholarships, and test question of the day!

Does it cost?
Yes - there is a fee for each and the cost can be found on the website.
**There is a waiver for low income families, please check with your
counselor if you need a waiver.
